Like creating landscapes but can't play them

Ah ha.
Thanks man.
I will try it out now.
And thanks for the scripting link.
:yourock:

Oh and by the way
I tried to upload my map.
It said it worked.
Do you need to approve it first or?
But anyway.
I'm off to bed
x

Yes I do need to add it manually. However before I do a couple of suggestions.

First register some land numbers and use them.

http://www.bwfiles.com/landreg/index.php

Second, Can you provide a load screen? A bitmap image (can be jpg renamed to bmp) named  load_screen_xxxx.bmp. With the x's being replaced by that maps land number. It goes into the Data folder.

Have you tried my .chl file to see if it does work on your map?

Hey again.
Yeah thanks for that.
I've just made the loading screen.
And it said this when i did the land number thing

Thank you Flix for requesting land numbers

The numbers asigned to you are: 3316 - 3320

The BW2 Land Number Registration System

So shall I just use 3316???
or do i need to keep, 3317 3318 3319 3320 for if i make any other new maps?
Cheers and chao x

An update.
Felix's Idyllic Island Map has been finished!

Basically, I planted all the Japanese towns down.
I'm gonna test it right now, using your script.
If it works, I will send it straight through to you, so you can have a look.
Thanks for all the help tho Kays.
You've been a big help, and this success wouldn't have come without your advice.
So thank you.
Chao for now x

Cool. :)

The reason for five numbers is that it's assumed that you'll be creating more than one landscape. The main idea is to keep the land numbers unique.

hey man.
Just tested it.
IT WORKS!!
Wow.
It looks pretty amazing really.
Haha.
Do you want me to upload it mate?
Thanks so much!!!
:yourock:
xx

Hey Kays.

The final update on whats happening.
I made my landscape work, using your script!
It's cool.
And...
I made a 2nd land!
Woop!
The first one is Greek vs Japanese.
The Second is Greek vs Aztec!

They're both good map packages.
They are FULLY COMPLETE.
So the other versions i sent you earlier and yesterday, delete those.
THESE are the finished versions, which I'd like to be posted.
Sorry if its getting a little confusing.
These ARE the final versions to be published.
Again, thank you so much for your help with these.
Couldn't have done them without you.
:yourock:

Looking forward to doing more challenging maps.
An idea I had was, "The Ring"?
Sound good?
You will see.
It's already amazing.
I've done the basic map.
You're not seeing it 'til it's finished.  :laugh2 :upside

Looking forward to hearing from you again.
Later buddy.
x

haha, I cannot thank you enough for posting this!

now, I've just got to figure out exactly how to use it...

It depends on what you want to do with it. The scripts are included, you just need to change the paths in the challenge.txt file so it can be used as a base to build other scripts on.

hi again.
Kays how do do the buildings you plan get built? do you need a script if so is it possible to add that to the 'landxxxx' script? or does it need the specific buildings?

There is a building script in the Script Library.

http://www.bwfiles.com/scripts/index.php?action=file&id=34

It can be done but it needs to be targeted at specific building groups. I looked at it when I started rewriting that script and didn't think it possible to do at the moment.

Hmmm.. In looking at it again, I still don't think it is. :no

Have a look at Land10.bwe in notepad as well as in the editor. Half of one town was planned. It would of been a very interesting Land if it was finished.

Okay, I'm new to everything, but I think I've solved most of it out....
I made a map from scratch, then I used the Landxxxx.chl to make the level work.
When I start the level up, I 'spawn' in the middle of the ocean in the corner of the map and 'fly' to the town centre.
It's rather annoying because there are loads of mountains...
Second, when it arrives at the town centre you get to choose out of the 5 creatures.
You see your Good advisor pointing at them but at the same time you can hear the evil advisor saying: "We need loads of resources and buildings" or something like that...
I would want that to disappear and just keep the Good advisor pointing  :;):
And third, while I'm editing the map, do I have to 'set' the MAIN.sky thing?
Or do I just have to keep it on .. nothing?  :help

Love,
Nethy  :blush

HI, if you're appearing in the corner of the map suggests that you haven't set a default camera position. In the editor Settings - Set default camera position.

I can't help too much with the evil advisor. He's not suppose to be there at creature select. It might have something to do with how you've got your map setup.

The MAIN.sky file just gets placed into the skysettings folder. It's used to set the sky back to normal after the epic wonders are fired.

Thanks a lot for helping me out there  :;):
Another few questions, yes, yes, I know...  :help

So I'm making a new map in the Landscape Editor, so I open my land continiously...
But when I look for it in the: C/Program Files/Lionhead Studios/Black & White 2/Data/Landscape/BW2 Map I can't find it.

Are there any scripts that the Villages (Neutral AI) will build their own buildings?

And.. Are you sure I can't get rid of that voice, because I don't want to start over  :(

Anyway,
Thanks

But when I look for it in the: C/Program Files/Lionhead Studios/Black & White 2/Data/Landscape/BW2 Map I can't find it.

That's where it's saved to. ???
What are you saving it as? Register a landnumber and save it as that.

From what I can see It's not something I've written it.

:help

I know I'm asking a lot, but could someone make a script for me? :woot

It's really hard for a beginner, and I just don't have the time for it, I just want to play the map in my free time  :)
If anyone offers to help, I'll tell that person what has to be in it.

Thanks,
Netherwhelp :blush

PS. It's a citybuilder-ish level...

I'm sorry but I don't have the time for it right now. Aren't you starting your summer break?

oh, landreg. i didnt know u had to do this.

i think you should put it somewhere more noticable, because i never knew it existed until now.
