[Help]Trying to Use Milk Shape to Accessorize Creatures.. but

I'm a nooby 3D modeler but I know I'm getting warm...

It's just that I'm trying to make the Wolf Model creature wear a Top-Hat in-game:

But For Some Reason when I export 1 of these happen to me...
- The Creature Freezes up and sometimes loses its texture
- The Creature looks like a the road kill... ( disorted)


I'm using the Black and White L3D Importer and Exporter.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong xD, Can anyone help?



ps- oh and hi all I'm new to Kays  :), very nice downloads and community!
 
Hello, nice to have a new user!

I've never had success doing majour changes on MilkShape. The most drastic thing I've ever managed was adding claws to the evil hand. I've also made little tweaks to creatures. However, my experience with MilkShape is slim, partly because of the time constraints on its use.

Do you remember how you did it?

did you make a new model then connect it to a bone, or did you end up just extending the model to make the claws longer?


To be honest, I think something is wrong with the exporter/importer.... xD
I'm not sure though...

I seriously cannot recall how I made that, but you could use it for  a basis or see whats been changed :)

Maybe I'm checking and unchecking the wrong options in the imported and Exporter?
I just leave as default and click okay..

I do recall getting allot of that distortion like on the second pic, I even remember I made a lion that looked like Sonic by mistake, just keep experimenting and you'll get the hang of it.
 
I think I just added faces and opened the ends of the fingers to connect them. I, too, got some seriously distorted jumbles in the process.
 
can anyone help me export a model without the bones becoming distorted?
