Please help. I have purchased B&W2 Collectors addition just yesterday, and installed it with no problems. But when I go to run the intro, an error popup appears saying: black and white 2 only supports graphics cards compatable with Pixel Shader Version 1.1 and above. Please read the Readme.text

I'm running a WindowsXP Home Edition PC, and I am concerned that it may need some upgrades to even run the game... like extra memory & a new Video Card?

Any ideas on how I could solve the problem and run the game successfully would be greatly appreciated.

Also what kind of Video or Graphics card should I get? I wouldn't want to buy the wrong one... x_X'' I know that on the back of my B&W2 game case it lists in smallprint what Video cards are compatable. But which one is good for budget, and runs the game smoothly? o_O

Ok... I'm just confused now at my own words, so hopefully this can be cleared up sometime soon. x_x  :help

I have attatched a Diagnostic of my computer's Display/System Properties which may help...

LOL
we have the exact same graphic card, apparently it doesnt support pixel shading even after latest update :shocked
what makes it more ironic is that they say at the bottem of the readme that intel is copyrighted blah blah blah but they mention intel so why didnt they bother adding that to the list
to fix it looks like we gotta get a new graphic card  :no
and yeah your gonna need like 300mb more RAM

lol... so I wasn't going insaine. My PC, may be only a year old - but it's already not capable of running high-spec games. *dies* My folks are going to be very.... uh, I don't think i should say the word, lol. xD

But, do you know what kind of Graphics card would work best for our systems?

I haven't a clue... o_O

i just researched it and quite frankly i can bother to wait to get a brand new computer if the graphic cards are like £100, im gonna immediatly start modding the game to pass the time
the best intel graphic card i saw on their site was the 82915G/82910GL chipset but there site sucks as i found no way to buy it :shocked
the ones black and white 2 mentions are...
ATI Radeon 8500/9100/9200/9250/9500/9550/9600/9700/9800/X300/X600/X700/X800/X850

nVidia GeForce 6200/6600/6800/FX5200/FX5500/FX5600/FX5700/FX5800/FX5900/FX5950/PCX5300/PCX5900/Ti4200/Ti4600/Ti4800
really id rather just wait for a new comp then go about wasting £100 or so on a game i wont be playing forever. i liked the look of the game after even more screenshots by kayssplace members but i can bother to wait because i love my custom xbox so much more ^_^
All i can say is thank god i didnt waste money on the game just to get owned by a pop up saying i need a pixel shader using graphic card >.<

OMG... they cost that much. *slams head against keyboard* Great... not only do I have not enough money to buy a new PC, but a Video card or even more memory either... not unless I beg and borrow. *drowns in a pit of sadness and greif* It's enough to drive a fan mad! :shocked

Oh well, I hope not all games are as complicated to run as B&W2.  :rolleyes :no

heh check ebay i see some going for like 1p and stuff  :woot
some for £1 some for £300 its madness i tell you  :shocked
and only the ones that take 3 years to make are gonna be like this *i hope*  :suspect
im currently watching a fx5500 for a pennie ^_^

What most people don't realise is that there are different levels of computers. What you've got is a system designed for simple every day use and not 3D games.
The biggest problem being that your graphics card is integrated into the motherboard and sharing ram and memory bandwidth with the CPU. One of the things you should check first is if there is an APG slot into which you can install a card. If not you might have to settle with a PCI card (not PCI-X). If you can find one, in my opinion, the Radeon 9600 is a good card for the money.

Yeah, I was kinda worried that my Pc wouldn't handle an upgrade, that's why I'm going to ring someone on whether or not it'll be able to have a new graphics card installed.  :suspect  :shocked Not sure how to fit one myself though, so it'll also probably have to be sent or taken to a specialist to be done. *feels the dread and worry* and at the same time have extra memory RAM also.

I guess it'll be better suited to super level gaming needs once it's done, eh? xD

Has anyone managed to personalise a Windows XP before, and upgrade the graphics card? o_O

It's not that hard to upgrade but if you're uncomfortable with it the it miht be best to get someone to do it for you. An other option would be to find a shop where you can buy the card from and have them install it. If you can talk to the service people, they'll probably be able to tell you what card would be best for your system.

Also in taking another look at your system specs, you will need to upgrade your ram. You've only got 256 MB. 512 is required.

Thanks, I'll try to find out all I can from the manufacturer and then whatever i find out, I'll post back here. Never know, might help people who have the same computer, and save them the time that I'm going through to find out.  :rolleyes  :)

and.. yeah, I thought i had more RAM, but turns out, i do need more of that also.  :shocked  :upside ah well, a long wait means I'll be hyper when i get the game running eventually, hehe

Ok, so far i have found out;

Yes, my PC (a609.uk) does have a AGP Slot available to fit a new video card. It is thankfully compatable with all ATI & Nivida Cards (required for the use with B&W2).

:shocked However, the Video card must meet the Power Specs of the PC,  and for ref, my PC's Power specs are:

Input voltage: - 100-127v ~ 6A
200-240v ~ 3A
Max Output Wattage: - 250W

This information was gained from an online secure chat with a HP Tech, and since they are very clever people - it must be correct, seeing as that may be the case, only use it as a guide...  :yes

I have no idea how to check a card is capable of running with my PC though, so i could use some help on that. ^_^'  :D
