The resolution you set is not supported by the game. Change your resolution to either a 4:3 or a 16:9 - at 16:9 parts of the game will always be 'cut off' - especially during cut scenes, when the concious dives below. You should set your resolution at 1920x1080 - or 1280 x 720 - The resolution...

This also happens with windows 8. What I think is going on is the naming folder system of the patches does not function properly. Make the b&w folder without spaces, and without the & sign. See if that helps. Also, from vista and up. Use compatibility setting XP service pack 3 + Admin rights.

Try not just change the numbers. Add your own card name or number too,  to it's respective group of course. Also, update your graphics driver. That never hurts.

Easy to fix error, update your graphics card software! :D Then, update your directX - even if it says you've got the latest, update it anyway, windows 7 can run direct x 11. - the game will use dx 9c still, but it will be updated non the less :)

You're running vista, that is your problem. Did you install the game in admin mode? Are you playing the game in admin mode? Is the UAC setting on of off? All those 'security' settings disable Black & White from saving it's game. :) Good luck now.
